Introducing AI-TransformED
Minds Europe – Institute for Research Excellence and Technological Advancement is proud to participate in the newly launched international Erasmus+ project AI-TransformED – Competences, Culture and Capacities for Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education and Training.
The project is coordinated by the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, and has been officially approved under the prestigious Erasmus+ Forward-Looking Projects call, one of the most competitive categories within the Erasmus+ programme. AI-TransformED was selected as one of only five funded projects among 215 submitted proposals.
AI-TransformED responds to the rapid transformation of education driven by generative artificial intelligence. The project aims to strengthen the readiness of education and training systems for the long-term impact of AI by developing competences, enhancing institutional capacities, and shaping educational approaches that support the meaningful, inclusive, and pedagogically grounded use of AI technologies.
The consortium brings together nine partners from Serbia, Poland, Estonia, and Latvia, including higher education institutions, training organisations, and secondary schools. Serbian partners in the project include:
- Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad – Coordinator
- Secondary School “Tvrđava”
- Office for Dual Education and the National Qualifications Framework of the Republic of Serbia and
- Minds Europe – Institute for Research Excellence and Technological Advancement
Through its participation, Minds Europe will contribute its expertise in digital transformation, education, research, AI-related capacity building, and the development of innovative learning approaches. The Institute’s role will support the creation of project results that are relevant not only for educational practice, but also for broader institutional development and policy-oriented discussions on the responsible integration of generative AI in education.
A key value of the project lies in the development of guidelines, tools, and practices that move beyond the ad hoc use of artificial intelligence. Instead, AI-TransformED seeks to direct AI implementation towards the genuine improvement of learning and teaching processes.
As highlighted by Assist. Prof. Dr Danijela Ćirić Lalić, Project Coordinator:
“The key question today is not whether we use generative artificial intelligence, but how we use it. If its application remains at the level of improvisation, we risk turning education into the externalisation of cognitive effort. Our goal is the opposite – through this project, we aim to ensure that the use of AI leads to deeper understanding, knowledge development, and real learning.”
For Minds Europe, participation in AI-TransformED represents an important opportunity to contribute to European efforts aimed at ensuring that AI in education is applied responsibly, strategically, and with a clear focus on learning outcomes, human competences, and institutional readiness.
AI-TransformED demonstrates that the transformation of education does not depend on technology alone, but on knowledge, competences, and the capacity of institutions to apply technology in a responsible and meaningful way.
